Welcome
A little about The Lavender Farm at Woodstock
We are a small-scale lavender farm located in Woodstock, Kentucky, which is just outside of Somerset. On our farm you will find two women - mother and daughter - with a passion for the purple herb and a willingness to experiment.
The idea for The Lavender Farm at Woodstock came about when Mary Ann, the mom, read about a similar venture on a small farm. Allison, the daughter, was looking for a way to honor and use the land they both love. Boom. There you have it. The mother/daughter team decided to give it a try and started researching varieties of lavender. They settled on Grosso and Munstead varieties (Grosso is one of the more hearty lavender plants and more easily grown in a climate such as Kentucky; and Munstead is much the same, but with shorter stems and it is also a culinary lavender). They ordered 100 lavender plants and grew from there, planting more each year. They also visited Kentucky's only other lavender farm, Lavender Hills of Kentucky, to see their operation and learn from them. Mary Ann and Allison are so thankful for the time the Brothers' family spent with us. If you haven't visited them in Bracken County, you should! The newest crop of lavender, which is coming directly from from the American motherland - Sequim, Washington - will be planted in June 2015. We are so excited to see what the future holds for our little endeavor. Thanks for visiting our website. We look forward to hearing from you! |
